J and I spent a lovely weekend at my dad and step-mom’s Indiana lake house last July. We went strawberry picking, fishing, and sipped lemonade on the porch swing. I felt lucky and relaxed when I put him down for nap that Saturday afternoon and went for a walk around the property. I wandered a while, and then stopped short at the sight of the beauty beneath my feet. Thousands of tiny clover stems grew heartily in the narrow cracks of the patio, lushly filling the gaps between the stones and leaving behind a stunning maze of green. I paused to capture the moment as a reminder that beauty and inspiration is right in front of me, if only I open my eyes and see it.
